The Mother Moon Fund

In loving memory of my Grammy, Gertrude M. Street — affectionately known as Mother Moon — this fund carries forward the light she brought into every life she touched.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, and raised in Yeadon, Gertrude met the love of her life, Samuel, while working at the Philadelphia Naval Yard. Their love story spanned 66 beautiful years of marriage. She was a woman full of warmth, quick wit, and gentle grace — someone who found joy in the arts, in playing tennis and bridge, in caring for animals, and in making every person she met feel seen and cherished. Her laughter could fill a room, and her one-liners became family treasures.

In her later years, Gertrude faced amyloidosis — a rare and devastating disease that led to many years on dialysis. Yet even in the face of hardship, she never allowed the illness to dim her spirit. Her resilience, humor, and boundless love remained constant, a quiet testament to her incredible strength.

She had a gift for creating deep connections, spanning generations and circles — from lifelong high school friends to fellow arts lovers, from close family to friends who became family. No matter where life took her, she carried people with her.

Each year, Orion Wellness honors her enduring legacy through The Mother Moon Fund, supporting causes that reflect her story and her strength. This year, in her honor, a portion of profits will be donated to advance Amyloidosis research and awareness, with the hope of bringing answers and healing to others facing this rare disease.

Her light, much like the moon, continues to shine and guide us.
